GemPool is an IT recruitment agerncy and our client is one of the worlds leading reinsurance provider. They are looking for a Lead Database Administrator to join the team on a 6 month contract to help refactor functional domains - mono to microservices, work with customer DBAs and engineering teams to find the right solutions to customer issues and to define a path to get to smaller domain services.
6-month contract position Daily Rate: €500-600
Primary Responsibilities:
- Guide and provide direction to Application Developers. - Assist in crafting schema designs, conducting code reviews, and optimizing SQL queries. - Maintain optimal database performance, ensuring swift query responses in a cloud-based setting. - Manage database parameters to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency. - Implement and execute maintenance plans to uphold database health and performance. - Deliver proactive and reactive data management assistance, along with user training. - Establish, enforce, and document database standards, procedures, and policies. - Conduct thorough tests and assessments to guarantee data security, privacy, and integrity. - Monitor database performance, enact modifications, and apply patches and updates. - Devise strategies for High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) to ensure business continuity. - Offer insights and suggestions for system enhancements.
Experience Required:
- Over a decade of professional experience in Database Administration/Engineering. - Five years of hands-on involvement in administering, managing, and fine-tuning databases within a cloud environment featuring microservices. - Proficiency in Oracle and either MySQL or Postgres; familiarity with DB/2 is advantageous. - Exposure to NoSQL databases. - Proven track record of successfully migrating data from on-premise environments to the cloud. - Experience in decomposing a monolithic structure along with its associated database(s) into a collection of loosely interconnected services. - Comprehensive understanding of data security, recovery, integrity, and SQL. - Previous utilization of DBA case tools (both frontend and backend) as well as third-party tools. - Aptitude for algorithmic thinking.
Education:
- Possession of a BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical software development background.
