Gempool is hiring for their client, who is a globally recognised M&E consultancy supporting the design and delivery of critical infrastructure, particularly in the data centre sector. Known for driving innovation in low-energy engineering design, the business plays a pivotal role in enabling complex construction programmes and helping clients meet ambitious carbon reduction targets across Europe.

As the team in Ireland continues to grow, there is now an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technical Director to join their office in Dublin . This role will lead the electrical design function across mission-critical projects and contribute to long-term business and team development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of the leadership, development, and delivery of electrical engineering services on large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects.

  • Partner with directors to contribute to broader business strategy and growth planning.

  • Lead project feasibility assessments, costing exercises, and preparation of project fee proposals.

  • Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to define project requirements and expectations.

  • Oversee and monitor project schedules and technical performance, adjusting as needed and reporting progress to management and clients.

  • Specify electrical systems, controls, and infrastructure aligned with cutting-edge building services standards.

  • Perform due diligence and technical assessments of existing facilities and installations.

  • Ensure fiscal responsibility for projects, including commercial oversight and achievement of target profit margins.

  • Lead and support construction phase monitoring, providing on-the-ground technical guidance.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing business development activities.

  • Represent the business at client and contractor meetings, technical reviews, and industry forums.

  • Carry out design calculations and ensure engineering documentation meets all relevant regulations and industry standards.

  • Take a hands-on role in office leadership, team collaboration, and local operational management.

  • Support MEP contractor procurement processes, including tender documentation and selection.

  • Mentor junior team members and support technical development initiatives.

  • Write and contribute to technical white papers to demonstrate the firm’s thought leadership.

  • Actively engage in internal sector management discussions to shape strategy and best practice.

  • Present at relevant industry events where appropriate.

  • Uphold high standards of engineering quality through a holistic and risk-conscious approach.

  • Ensure alignment with internal QA, financial, and project management protocols throughout delivery.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is essential.

  • Deep technical knowledge of electrical systems design for mission-critical environments such as data centres.

  • Strong familiarity with Irish and international codes, safety legislation, and compliance standards.

  • Commercially aware, with experience in project margin control, invoicing, and financial oversight.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.

  • Experience using relevant design and spreadsheet tools alongside MS Office.

  • Excellent stakeholder communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Previous experience in a consultancy or large-scale construction environment is preferred.

  • Exposure to international project delivery or multinational client engagement is a plus.

Note: This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a competitive salary of up to €120,000, along with a strong benefits package. The successful candidate will be based in Dublin, with the expectation to be onsite 5 days a week for the first 3 months, transitioning to a hybrid model (3 days onsite weekly) thereafter.
