Gempool is currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Lead – Senior Platform Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting large-scale software development initiatives across multiple projects and business units.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical leader with a strong background in Platform Engineering or DevOps to drive engineering excellence, improve software delivery capabilities, and lead a team focused on enabling modern development practices. You will gain exposure to enterprise-scale CI/CD environments and work with technologies including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, PowerShell, and Microsoft Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for delivering self-service platform capabilities that empower development teams to efficiently build, test, and deploy software
- Drive the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of CI/CD frameworks across medium to enterprise-scale environments
- Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, QA teams, and Solution Architects to improve the reliability and efficiency of the software development lifecycle
- Identify and eliminate development bottlenecks through automation and process optimisation
- Support multiple project teams and codebases to enable smooth deployments across development, test, staging, and production environments
- Promote DevOps best practices, platform stability, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the wider team
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps
- At least 2 years’ experience in a technical leadership or team lead role
- Strong technical background with experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Automation
- Experience working within the Microsoft technology ecosystem, ideally including .NET environments
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and/or Jenkins
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with GitFlow or other branching and release management methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong passion for innovation, automation, and continuous improvement
- Consulting or client-facing experience would be advantageous
- Third-level degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure
- Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell
- Exposure to enterprise-scale delivery environments and Agile methodologies
