Job Description
What is the goal of this job? Your job is to work with companies to turn old, legacy data centres into super-powered AI factories. You are part detective and part engineer. You need to prove to the owner that they can make a lot more money by switching from storing emails to running AI. This is about supporting companies to build out sovereign AI that enables compliance but also performance.
My client is a growing consultancy that is looking to add a Senior Technical Consultant to the team. If you think this role is something of interest, get in touch with Michael Lantry on michael.lantry@gempool.ie or call +353 87 7546 331.
What you will do every day:
- You’ll visit data centres and comms rooms and check how much electricity they have and how they stay cool.
- You will help design a special mini-building (the Sidecar) that uses water cooling to keep the world’s fastest AI chips from getting too hot.
- You will create simple charts and reports to show the owners: “If you spend X amount of money today, you will make Y amount of extra profit tomorrow.”
- You will help manage the team that swaps out old, slow computer racks for new, AI racks without turning off the power.
What you need to be good at:
- You should understand how Irish based data centres work and how electricity moves through a building.
- You need to look at an existing legacy data centre or potentially a comms room inside a business and see a way to fit new technology inside it without breaking anything.
- You need to be able to explain complicated “tech stuff” to business people (like bank managers or landlords) so they feel safe working with you.
The “Must-Haves”:
- Expert knowledge of how Irish data centres work day to day
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape at play in Ireland – GDPR, EU AI Act, DORA, CRU rules
- Commercial understanding of how to leverage better infrastructure to glean more value from servers
