Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

GemPool is hiring a Cost Manager on behalf of a leading international construction consultancy delivering multiple data centre projects across Europe. This role will be embedded with one of Europe’s largest data centre providers, working full-time on a high-value project in Amsterdam. The successful candidate will take a client-facing leadership role, managing cost control and guiding a small project team. This is a rare opportunity to operate at the top level of data centre construction with strong long-term career potential.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver full cost management services for a multimillion-euro, 90MW hyperscale data centre project.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client, representing the consultancy’s interests.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3+ junior quantity surveyors.
- Oversee budgeting, cost planning, procurement support, and contract administration.
- Coordinate on-site meetings and ensure alignment with client requirements and project deadlines.
- Prepare timely, accurate financial reports and updates for stakeholders.
- Provide support during tender processes and assist with contract negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant local and international construction standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (Chartered status preferred, ideally RICS).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost consultancy or client-side quantity surveying.
- Demonstrated experience on data centre or other mission-critical projects – minimum 5 years.
- Ability to lead project teams and work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
- Comfortable managing client expectations and working in high-pressure environments.
