Senior Networks Engineer
Location: Dublin – Hybrid / Client Sites
Reports to: Technical Director

Role Overview

As a Senior Networks Engineer, you will be the technical cornerstone of our infrastructure delivery. This is a high-impact, multi-faceted role combining technical pre-sales, solution architecture, and hands-on implementation. You will be responsible for translating the complex needs of our educational and corporate clients into robust, scalable network and server architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Sales & Selling: Partner with the sales team to provide technical authority during client meetings. Conduct site surveys and technical audits to identify pain points and growth opportunities.
  • Scoping & Design: Produce detailed Statements of Work (SoW), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and High-Level Designs (HLD). Ensure all proposed solutions are financially viable and technically sound.
  • Implementation: Lead the end-to-end deployment of network, server, and Wi-Fi projects. Manage technical transitions with minimal disruption to client operations.
  • Project Leadership: Own the technical lifecycle of a project from initial handshake to final sign-off, ensuring all documentation is updated and handovers to support teams are seamless.

Technical Requirements

Network & Security

  • Expertise: Minimum 5+ years in senior network roles.
  • Qualifications: Cisco CCNP R&S (Routing & Switching) or equivalent.
  • Security: Advanced configuration and management of firewall vendor solutions.
  • Connectivity: Expert knowledge of high-density Wi-Fi design (essential for large educational campuses).

Systems & Identity Management

  • Server Management: Relevant MCSE qualifications with a focus on Windows Server Components.
  • Identity: MCSE with MCP qualification in Active Directory Administration, Design, and Identity Management.
  • Messaging: Experience with Microsoft MCSE Solutions Expert for designing and deploying Exchange Server or MCSA Messaging.

Storage & Backup

  • Management: Relevant storage and backup qualifications with 5+ years of experience in data integrity and disaster recovery planning.

Service & Methodology

  • ITIL: Minimum ITIL v4 Foundation (Expert level preferred).
  • Agile: Experience with Agile Service Manager certification is highly desirable to assist in modern project delivery workflows.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, such as Headteachers, Governors, or Corporate Executives.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to identify “upsell” opportunities that genuinely benefit the client’s infrastructure.
  • Problem Solving: A “client-first” mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues under project deadlines.

Qualifications Summary

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • CCNP / MCSE / ITIL v4.
  • Full Driving License (required for site visits).
