Senior IT Systems Engineer
Hybrid / Dublin-based role
Salary: €70,000 – €75,000 per annum plus an excellent benefits package included

We are currently recruiting for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join the IT team of a leading multinational SaaS company headquartered in Dublin. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role involves managing demanding IT infrastructure and security needs while supporting both Cloud and on-prem environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your technical skills and make an active contribution as the company transitions its IT Infrastructure from on-premise to Cloud.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide world-class infrastructure support:
• Respond to complex helpdesk queries from technical engineers
• Ensure cost-effective and efficient use of IT infrastructure while identifying improvements
• Liaise with hardware/software vendors
• Ensure proper configuration of cloud security measures such as IAM, firewalls, and encryption
• Administer operating systems (Windows, Apple), virtual environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Participate in creating and enforcing best practices, guidelines, and procedures
• Conduct security checks and maintain operational security
• Analyse and resolve faults – from system crashes to expired service accounts
• Manage and deploy email, anti-spam, and virus protection
• Monitor all user accounts and endpoint devices using cloud-based tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineers, developers, and security professionals
• Install, support, and maintain new server hardware and infrastructure (Azure)
• Develop, deploy, and maintain security systems (firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, authentication)
• Maintain secure access for development environments
• Continuously monitor network activity for security threats
• Manage endpoint protection and DLP solutions
• Implement and manage perimeter security (firewalls, VPNs, access control)
• Evaluate and deploy additional security tools and technologies (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection)

Skills Required:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft technologies: Active Directory, GPO, Windows OS, Exchange, SQL Server
• Strong understanding of IT security, networking protocols (TCP/IP), firewall/VPN configuration, malware and virus protection
• Advanced technical knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Technologies (Azure, Entra ID, Intune, O365, Defender, SharePoint, Teams, BYOD)
• Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto on-prem and cloud firewalls
• Experience managing Apple MacBook devices with MDM systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience with Linux systems, databases, or firewalls (advantage)
• Azure DevOps experience and automation knowledge (advantage)
• SaaS industry experience (advantage)
• Experience managing Email Gateway and Email Protection systems
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and share knowledge

Education & Experience:

• 6–10 years’ IT Systems Engineer experience (exceptional candidates with less will be considered)
• Third-level degree or equivalent experience
• Advanced Palo Alto / Prisma Firewall management experience & certification
• Advanced Microsoft Azure / Office 365 management experience & certification
• Experience planning, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft Suite technologies
