Senior Backend Software Engineer – C#/.NET & VB.NET – Ireland

GemPool’s client is seeking multiple Senior Software Engineers with experience in C#/.NET and VB.NET to join a small, agile development team working on a business-critical web application. This is a permanent, full-time, remote role within Ireland.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale web applications using C#/.NET and VB.NET.
• Build and integrate REST APIs to support business-critical operations.
• Work on a hybrid tech stack: maintaining legacy VB.NET code while developing modern features using React for the frontend.
• Collaborate within an Agile team, contributing to continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and support production-level applications.
• Work with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL preferred) to ensure efficient data handling.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design decisions.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in web development with C#/.NET, VB.NET, or a combination of both.
• Hands-on experience supporting large-scale production applications.
• Strong REST API development and integration skills.
• Solid experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with React or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous deployment processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Some experience with Docker and Terraform.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Practical experience integrating AI/ML components.
• End-to-end web development experience.
• UI development skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Blazor, or Angular.
• Proven track record designing and delivering robust web applications.
• Familiarity with Git and open-source contributions.
• Experience on business-critical applications.
