Job Overview:
Gempool is seeking an experienced and driven Network Engineer to join our client’s onsite team in Dublin, Ireland. This is a 6-month contract role with the possibility of extension and rollover. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in large-scale networking environments, with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting network issues and close collaboration with external providers and local data centre technicians.
Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with external providers and local data centre technicians to identify and resolve physical link issues.
• Troubleshoot and remediate network-related failures and performance issues within complex environments.
•  Read, interpret, and utilise Python code to support network automation and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure optimal network performance across multiple systems and environments.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience working within large-scale networking environments.
• Strong, in-depth experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Hands-on experience working in Linux/Unix environments, including system administration and troubleshooting.
• High level of proficiency in Python programming, with the ability to apply code to networking and automation tasks.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience working in a data centre or cloud-based network environment.
• Familiarity with additional network automation tools and scripting languages.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
