Job Description
GemPool is a dedicated recruitment partner in the data centre industry. We are supporting a specialist commissioning and quality consultancy that is embedded within a team on a major live data centre project in Dublin
We are looking for a Lead/Senior Commissioning Manager to take ownership and help drive the programme forward. You’ll be working on-site with a design-and-build general contractor on a highly complex data centre project.
The focus is clear: push towards Level 2 tags, energisation, and safe delivery.
Location: Dublin 15
Contract: 3–6 month contract
Rate: €500 – €650 a day
Project: Live data centre build
Working model: Fully site-based only
Candidates must already be based locally in Ireland and able to commit to being fully on-site.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll lead the on-site commissioning management function, owning short-term commissioning planning, driving vendor progress, managing dependencies, and helping unblock issues across a critical stage of the project.
This role will suit someone who is commercially aware, technically strong, and comfortable challenging vendors and contractors when progress is not matching reality.
Key responsibilities:
- Owning and managing 3-to-6-week commissioning look-ahead plans
- Tracking resources, manpower, progress, risks, and blockers
- Supporting logic-linked commissioning programmes across construction and handover phases
- Driving weekly commissioning progress meetings
- Challenging OFCI and CFCI vendor progress where required
- Coordinating QA/QC documentation and vendor sign-off
- Auditing installation works against project strategies, programme requirements, and construction status drawings
- Supporting health, safety, isolation, and live-testing strategies during critical energisation windows
- Leading the overall commissioning management team on-site
The right person will bring:
- Strong Lead Commissioning Manager experience on Tier 1 data centres, pharma, life sciences, or heavy industrial projects
- Excellent understanding of commissioning sequencing, dependencies, and programme logic
- Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar planning tools
- Prior exposure to OFCI and CFCI packages
- The ability to challenge contractors and vendors without damaging working relationships
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- The ability to operate in a high-pressure site environment
This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the action. The successful contractor will not just be reporting on problems. They’ll be helping solve them, driving accountability, and keeping the project moving safely towards energisation.
