Michael leads our Division responsible for placing software engineers into some of the best Saas companies in Ireland. Michael has been with GemPool since 2012 and sits on the Board. His team are expert headhunters focused on sourcing and placing contract and permanent software engineering professionals, with particular expertise in cloud technologies.

Robert Hourie

Robert is an experienced Recruitment Leader having started his Recruitment career back in 2006. He takes pride in providing the best possible service to both jobseekers and customers alike with one of the best track records in the IT industry. Coming from a Business background Robert is a specialist Recruiter within the IT Infrastructure space with expert knowledge of the Data Center, Networking, Systems and Security recruitment sector. 

In addition to his primary role, he is also tasked with the day to day operations of Gempool's Infrastructure division. He has offered Recruitment consultancy and advice to some of the largest companies in the world to the individual with an idea looking to create the next unicorn company to change the world. 

Laura Mooney

Laura has been with GemPool for over 2 years and works on the Infrastructure team. She specialises in recruiting Network Engineers, Server Repair Technicians and Warehouse Operatives.

She has worked with multinational companies and helps them expand their teams in Ireland by providing them with top talent. She guides her candidates through the recruitment process and ensures that they are fully informed at all stages of the process.

From her time in GemPool, she has learnt how to manage the recruitment process from start to finish and making sure she finds the right jobs for her candidates.

Richard Ward

Namratha Ambat
Digital Marketing and Web Design Executive


Namratha (a.k.a Nam), completed her Masters in Digital Marketing from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in 2018 and was taken on-board with GemPool soon after. 

Over the past 2 years she been able to apply her educational background to improve GemPool’s digital presence and build brand awareness. Conducting research and working in the IT Recruitment market has helped expand her knowledge in the area and also helped create relevant content to back GemPool’s area of expertise. 

Cathal McAliskey
.NET and Mobile Recruitment Consultant

Cathal McAliskey joined the GemPool team in October 2018 and works within the Technology team, providing our SaaS clients with the best tech talent to help scale and meet their business requirements while also providing support and guidance to all his candidates.

After finishing a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Cathal worked for 2 years as an ICT Teacher in a Secondary School. He even taught some basic programming. He then moved into recruitment and has been working within Technology recruitment for the last two years. Cathal specialises in the Microsoft C#.Net space, check out his Blog "Back of the .Net"  

Outside of work, Cathal follows a lot of Sport particularly GAA and Soccer. He also loves to travel back home to Tyrone to visit his family. In July 2020 Cathal completed the National Recruitment Federation Programme in Recruitment Practice and became a certified recruiter.

Lee Garvin
IT Project Management Recruitment Consultant

Lee has been working as a recruiter for 1 year now and works mainly in the area of IT Infrastructure. He received his Bachelors in Multimedia and Performance Technology and has always had a passion for everything tech. It’s mostly Networking and Project Management that really caught his attention since joining Gempool and he spends most of his time speaking with talented individuals within these spaces. 

He notes that a Network Engineer seems to be a popular career job nowadays, but finding the right type of Engineer for the job can be quite the task. A Network Engineer could be working in anything such as Security, LAN/WAN, Wireless etc. but the one he find most interesting, is the fascinating world of Optical Engineering. Candidates with knowledge of Optical Technologies don’t come around all the time as they tend to have plenty of options for work so having an attractive job opportunity is always very important when talking to these particular candidates. Optical Fiber is used in Telecoms and Networking and is especially effective for long distance communication. It is becoming more and more popular in the world of technology. 

Lee also would like to highlight that Project Management is another top choice amongst IT professionals in the modern world. Often we see hands on technical people progress on to being PM’s and this often helps with interacting with the team. Within Infrastructure, this is also very important. Effective communication with Engineers is vital for a project to be successful and he finds that this is one of the most desirable attributes of a Project Manager. 

What Lee likes most about recruitment is uniqueness of each candidate. He says that each has their own strengths and weaknesses and two people who might be polar opposites in terms of personality could be equally good at one particular job. This in turn allows recruiters like himself to learn a lot from each of these candidates in conversation. Particularly Project Managers are good at explaining processes etc so this for me is another big plus.
