Job Description
We are hiring a UX/UI Designer to join us for a defined phase of product development focused on improving user experience and engagement across the platform.
This is a sole designer role. You will own UX and UI end to end – from sitting down with students and teachers to understand what they need, through to handing pixel-perfect specs to engineering. You will see your work come to life quickly and have a direct impact on how young people learn.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- User research: interviews and usability testing with students (teenagers) and teachers
- Synthesising findings into clear insights that drive product decisions
- User flows, journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Specifying UI elements, components, colour, and typography across the product
- Producing developer-ready Figma specifications
- Collaborating closely with product and engineering from concept to delivery
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of UX/UI design experience.
- A strong portfolio showing both UX thinking and visual craft. We want to see work from consumer-facing products where your design decisions drive real engagement.
- Experience conducting formal and informal user research independently – interviews and usability testing translating findings into improvements.
- A sharp eye for what works well in comparable digital products and the judgement to apply it thoughtfully.
- Proficiency in Figma. Hands-on experience specifying UI detail: components, colour systems, spacing, typography.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
- Comfortable owning work end to end while collaborating closely with a product and engineering team.
- Experience in cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in using AI design tools to accelerate your work – this is a core expectation of the role, not a nice to have. We are not precious about which tools you use. If it moves things forward faster and the output is strong, we are interested. Our engineering team works with Claude Code, so comfort working alongside an AI-enabled dev team is a plus.
- Strong communication skills – with users, stakeholders, and engineers alike.
- Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards.
Desirable: experience in edtech or consumer subscription products, familiarity with analytics tools.
