Mechanical Commissioning Manager (Contract)
Ballycoolin, Dublin, Ireland
Up to €550/day
3–6 Month Rolling Contract
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to lead the delivery, testing, and validation of mission-critical mechanical systems on a major data centre project.
You will act as the technical authority for cooling, HVAC, and hydronic infrastructure, ensuring systems are installed, commissioned, and proven capable of meeting operational and failover requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical commissioning programme from installation completion through to client handover.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, electrical, controls, and client teams.
- Manage the commissioning of chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, pumps, and chilled water systems.
- Review commissioning procedures, method statements, and test scripts.
- Oversee Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB) activities and verify airflow and water balancing results.
- Conduct site inspections to verify mechanical installations against approved drawings and specifications.
- Monitor pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and mechanical integrity activities.
- Identify commissioning risks, technical issues, and programme constraints, driving timely resolution.
- Coordinate equipment vendors during start-up, testing, and performance verification.
- Ensure all commissioning documentation, reports, and sign-off records are completed to project standards.
- Support integrated systems testing and critical failover demonstrations.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Engineer, or Mechanical Lead on large-scale projects.
- Strong background in data centres, mission-critical facilities, pharmaceutical, industrial, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Extensive knowledge of chilled water systems, HVAC infrastructure, hydronic networks, and air balancing.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
- Experience managing specialist contractors, TAB providers, and equipment vendors.
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes, quality assurance, and safety procedures.
Preferred Experience
- Data Centre commissioning experience.
- Hyperscale or mission-critical project delivery.
- Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Mechanical plant commissioning in live or critical environments.
