A leading data centre operator is seeking an experienced EHS & Security Executive to take ownership of safety, environmental performance, and security operations across two high-availability sites. This is a key role for someone who enjoys building strong safety culture, managing risk, and ensuring secure, compliant day-to-day operations in a critical environment.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering the overall EHS and security agenda for both sites. This includes developing policies, running training, managing external security partners, and ensuring the facilities operate safely, sustainably, and in line with regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with operations, engineering, and client-facing teams to maintain a high-performing and risk-aware environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health & Safety

  • Own the site’s EHS framework, ensuring full compliance with Irish legislation and internal standards.
  • Lead risk assessments, inspections, and safety audits across the facilities.
  • Deliver training to employees and contractors on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
  • Drive environmental programmes focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses and implement follow-up actions.
  • Support emergency and business continuity planning, including drills and scenario testing.
  • Maintain and improve EHS systems, documentation, and performance metrics.

Security Operations

  • Manage day-to-day security activities across both sites.
  • Oversee and optimise outsourced security services, ensuring high-quality performance.
  • Monitor access control, surveillance systems, and incident response processes.
  • Conduct regular reviews of security performance, SLAs, and vendor effectiveness.
  • Coordinate security testing and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external auditors on compliance matters.
  • Provide regular reporting on EHS and security performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in change management and project planning to ensure EHS considerations are built into all activities.
  • Contribute to budget planning for safety and security initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in Health & Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in an EHS role within a critical or high-risk environment (construction, data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Irish H&S regulations and best practice.
  • Experience managing external suppliers or service partners.
  • Confident working across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence, coach, and build a strong safety culture.
  • Comfortable responding to incidents in a calm and structured manner.
  • Full driving licence.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience overseeing security operations or managing a security provider.
  • Exposure to multi-building or multisite operations.
  • Background in environmental or sustainability initiatives.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong safety culture embedded across both sites.
  • Zero major incidents and consistent compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • High levels of security performance and contractor accountability.
  • Accurate reporting and measurable improvements in EHS and security metrics.
  • Smooth and well-prepared emergency response capability.
