Our experience at the Techies4TempleStreet Treasure Hunt!

Earlier this month GemPool participated in the ‘Techies4TempleStreet’ event, a treasure hunt aimed to raise money for sick children treated by the Temple Street Hospital in Dublin. This super event is in its 4th year and had over 1500 techies taking part. The event started at lunchtime in the Aviva Stadium.  Following a touching presentation from the Temple Street Foundation CEO, our team was even more motivated to crack the treasure hunt in record time!

Shannon Begley was an excellent Captain and steered the team through the games many challenges.  Identifying well-known IT logos and solving puzzles were some  of the tasks  the groups had to complete. There were also some fun games like sharing selfies on the   @Techies4TS page.

It was a full on day but even the tropical heat couldn’t stop us!

The Gempool team:  Shannon, Rory, Laura, Sarah, Eoghan.

All the groups were rewarded for their efforts with a cold drink and an evening of craic back at the Aviva. Team Gempool were thrilled to join the Treasure hunt again this year.  It was such a fantastic event for a great cause.

Gempool have been involved in this fundraiser before and decided to take it one step further this year.  We organized a Cake Sale and raised €500 selling homemade cakes and pastries baked by our very own recruiters. Watch out Nevin Maguire!!

A further €700 was raised for the Temple Street Foundation at our Annual Pub Quiz in the Wicked Wolf. The 14 teams answered 70 questions ranging from “which country is the Southernmost member of the EU?” to “how many digits are there in an IBAN number”. Eoghan surprised everyone with his knowledge of geography and politics!. At the end of the evening it was Rob’s team who  scooped first prize in what was a very tight race.

We want to thank all of the lovely people who donated to us during the run-up to the event.  We are already looking forward to 2019, and we're sure you'll be just as generous next time!
