GemPool's client is the world’s largest, most vibrant video-first content marketplace, providing filmmakers, creators, and producers of all kinds with the content, inspiration, and tools they need to improve their projects.

They are looking for a driven DevOps Engineer to join the world’s most accessible marketplace of media assets video creators need to tell stories, share knowledge, and inspire audiences. In this role, you will work closely with the technology team, demonstrating a professional approach and making decisions relating to systems and server architecture. If you are passionate about the fundamentals of web systems configuration, cloud hosting (AWS), containers, system performance monitoring, provisioning, security, understand web architectures and are knowledgeable in best practice software development and deployment processes, we want to hear from you. They are primarily located in Dublin but are a remote first team, so will consider highly qualified applicants from Europe.

  • Working with our Development teams to assist in defining and supporting system test and UAT/release support as needed
  • Thinking outside the box to devise ways to improve our systems
  • Working closely with the technology team, taking requirements and design documentation as input, clarifying requirements as necessary to critique solutions, and being proactive in approach to tasks
  • Participating in the Agile development methodology, including stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies as needed
  • Helping define metrics for their systems that are useful and practical and looking at how we can iteratively improve what we do, including the automated 24/7 monitoring of our systems, value for money reviews of our hosting costs, and system security
  • Designing for system redundancy, Disaster Recovery, and failover
  • Assisting with the resolution of day to day issues and queries relating to technology
  • 3 + years experience working with at least three of Linux, AWS, Docker, Python, Node
  • Public Cloud (AWS/AZURE/GCP) experience - familiar with Iaas, Paas, SaaS
  • Hashicorp tools (Consul, Packer, Vault)
  • Working in an Agile environment with a geographically dispersed development team
  • In the deployment of microservice-based solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, or Linux Containers
  • With deployment tools and configuration management (Docker, Terraform, SaltStack, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins)
  • With monitoring software (Sensu, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • With CI/CD software
  • With Infrastructure as Code and GitOps
  • With Centralized Log Systems (Graylog, ELK, Fluentd, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working well in collaboration with a dynamic team
  • Ability to prioritize, to work on own initiative, and work to deadlines with the persistence to get things done right
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organized and flexible
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiar with PHP, Python, Go, java web applications, and REST services
  • Experience with Elasticity, Scalability, Clustering and Load Balancing, Performance Tuning, High Availability and Failover, Security and Data Transformation
  • Strong understanding of product life cycle and deliverables
